Does being a vegetarian effect your ability to lose weight?!

Question: Does being a vegetarian effect your ability to lose weight!?
I've been on WeightWatchers for nearly year and I've hit a plateau!. I've been stuck the same weight for about three months now and I'm getting frustrated!. I've tried lots of different methods within WW to help me get past it, but it's nothing's really happening!. As you can imagine, my motivation is shot to pieces!.

As I was walking home from work tonight, I got thinking - would that fact that I turned vegetarian four months ago be affecting my ability to lose weight!? I didn't hit this plateau until after I switched!. Is my body trying to tell me something, like start to eating meat again!?

Thoughts and advice please!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I wouldn't obsess about finding THE answer!. However, it might help to look carefully at the type of food you tend to consume since you became vegetarian!. You may, for instance, be eating more starch and processed carbohydrates (bread, pasta etc) as main meals!.

Anyone who says 'It can't be due to vegetarianism' without knowing the details of your diet is talking obviously talking nonsense!. That said, switching back to an omnivorous diet might not help you either!. Don't be to drastic or too black-and-white in your approach!.

As a general rule, take plenty of exercise, drink plenty of water and eat a balanced diet!. There are some rather prescriptive diets, such as the 'paleolithic diet' which seem to offer health benefits - like weight loss, but in general the relationship between body weight and diet is quite complex, and depends on your particular biological makeup as well as your lifestyle!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you usually lose weight by being a veggieWww@Answer-Health@Com

Short answer, No!

You need to evaluate what your eating!. Those who turned Vegetarians usually bulk up their protein intake (that would usually be aquired through meat) with cheeses and more fatty proteins!.

Try eating pulses and grains!. And keep a good excersise regime!.

My dinner tonight includes; 2 Vegetarian Sausages, 3 small jacket potatoes, carrots, soya beans, broccoli and cauliflower!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No, you do not need to start eating meat again! You probably started eating more cheese and/or nuts when you stopped eating meat, which would cause you to plateau!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No, in fact it is the other way round!. May be your body is tuned to non-vegetarian food!. You will start loosing weight after some more time!. Check your total calorie intake and the energy you loose during the day!. Go and consult a doctor for any hormonal imbalance if any!.
