I did this diet three years ago with my husband!. We both lost weight!. I got down to my goal within four months, but my husband had more to lose and had more trouble sticking with the diet!. My weight has mostly stayed off!. I gained ten pounds back in the last three years, so I just went through induction again and lost the ten pounds in three weeks!. Now I'm just being careful again!.

I got a lot of information at the forums at lowcarber!.org, which really helped!. The diet isn't unhealthy if you look at it as replacing your starches with vegetables!. So instead of rice, pasta, potatoes, I would have salad (with creamy garlic italian dressing - yum), spinach, broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini or summer squash, green beans, etc!. Also, I replaced regular white bread with low carb, high fiber pita pockets!.

You're allowed fruits (after the two week induction) like strawberries, cantaloupe, honeydew melon, raspberries, and blueberries!.

I never felt better!. I was never hungry!. I did get my blood work done before I started, and while I was on the diet, because I'd heard bad things!. My bad cholesterol went down, my good cholesterol went up!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's so bad for you! Carbs are NOT bad!. (Ignore people who say that!) It also isn't sustainable and makes you feel hungry the entire time!.
40% of what we eat should be carbs and cutting down has been proven to play havok with your arteries!. The reason some say to avoid them is that if you cut them out you trick your body into eating into its fat supplies because since carbs are the main food source of energy, it thinks its not being fed!. You lose weight but it's dangerous, and very temporary so as soon as you eat them again the weight comes straight back!. Unless you're willing to live a life devoid of fresh bread, hot pasta and steaming potatos I would not even consider cutting them out!. It's just not good for you!. Dieting should be about health, not just weight loss!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is a horrible diet!. For the first two weeks you can have no more than 14 carbs!. That is awful! You will become weak, cranky, and also the Atkins diet is known to cause cancer and heart failure!. If you want a good low carb diet try South Beach because it allows more carbs, just not so much sugar!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It works better for men than women, and when you try to go back to eating normally, you regain the weight!. At least that was our experience when my husband, myself and my adult daughter went on it together for three months!.

Also, once you get past the initial delight in eating lots of meat and cheese, you get really bored with it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Everyone will say its bad for you but its really only bad if you do it for more than 3 months or longer!.!.!.!.

I HAVE A SUCCESS STORY!.

I weighed 190 lbs and after two months on the Atkins Diet I weight 150!. I now weigh 135 and haven't been on the Atkins Diet for a couple of years (I eat healthy and work out regularly)!.

On the Atkins diet I was eating bacon, steak, sausage etc all of the time and it was awesome!. I also took vitamin supplements to make up for lack of other nutrients!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I congratulate the woman with the success story!. I wish there were more of them!. I had very close friends that did atkins, and not only were they so irritable, but they suffered from lack of energy, and stomach problems!. They were constipated, unable to have a bowel movement for days at a time, and were bloated in between!. People forget that not only are you giving up carbs found in starches like pasta and bread, but carbs in fruit and dairy as well!. Some say the long term effects haven't been established, but my theory is that atkins himself is (or should i say, was) a longterm study!.!.the man died of heart disease!.
