Question: What is a good way to exercises the equivalent of bench pressing!?
I already know pushups!.!.!.but I really like to use the smith machine since I'm a bigginer and not really that strong (yet) but at my local gym that machine is always hogged up by the guys so I was wondering I I buy some dumbells form the local sporting good store and lye on a matt on the floor would that give me the same effect!?

Also I can only bench press the pole (45) so what weigh dumb bells shouls I start with!? if this is even a good idea!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

You can go with your plan, but you might want to get a step up bench or something to allow more range of motion than lying directly on the floor will!.

Also keep in mind that with dumbbells, you don't have both hands assisting each other with your dominant hand doing more work!. DB's mean each arm is on it's own to do the work with each DB!.

Get a set of adjustable weights or a basic set of DB's!. Find the right weight that allows but challenges you do hit 12-15 reps!. If the weight is too light, you'll be able to do more, if it's too heavy, you won't make 12!.

Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You could do that, or what is even better then the regular bench press or the smith machine or laying on the floor is to get dumbells and lay on one of the big blow up balls you see in most gyms (there pretty cheap) and it works out your abs and your whole core because you have to balance at the sametime!.!.!. and definitly go down to alot lighter weight when you first do this if you do because most likely you will lose balance the first time and maybe the second but youll get use to it after that!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
