What are healthy options to put on toast?!

Question:

What are healthy options to put on toast?

I normally use reduced calories jam, but the first ingredient in it is sugar, so that isn't good. I sometimes use reduced fat margarine with Omega 3 in it, but I try to stay away from it because it has so much fat in it. What other options are there?

Answers:

Marmite has plenty of flavour and vitamins. Fruit spreads that don't contain much sugar are good (you can even make them yourself!) You can buy the spreads in most supermarkets but you have to keep them in the fridge because their low sugar content means they can go off if not kept cool. Mashed or sliced banana is good on toast. Olive oil sprinkled with cajun spice or that Italian spice mix that they use with bread (sorry can't remember the name) Olive oil is OK because it reduces your cholesterol level and improves the good HDL's in your bloodstream. (But beware of so-called olive oil spreads because they are mostly other fats with a small percentage of olive oil added. I suspect palm-oil is one of the other fats they use- very bad!)
I have made fruit spreads using just enough sugar to take away any tartness and frozen them in ice-cube trays so I can get them out one at a time. Hope some of this helps.
