Question: 5'3 and weigh 148!.!.!.bmi says thats overweight!.!?
but i have big bones, wide hips and muscle!.
i am 15!.
I want to know how to find out how much fat I really have!.
i don't look fat!.!.people have never said that about me either!.
how can i find that out!?
if i went to a gym or something would they be able to tell me!.
or could i go to my doctor or something!.
i work out alot, i don't get it!.

i am in the same boat as you!. same height, approx!. same weight, and very active!. i too do not look "overweight!." BMI is not always a reliable measure!. instead you need to get a body fat and body fat percentage reading!. there are scales on the market now that can give you such readings!. they usually run about $40 bucks more or less!. if you lead a healthy lifestyle, know you have a good diet, and exercise daily i wouldnt worry!. just try to find out about your bf% and make sure it is at a healthy level (between 30-15%)!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

that sounds like an unhealthy weight for your height!.
a lot of it could be muscle though,
a bmi calculator doesnt take muscle weight into consideration!.
if you feel fine, and dont think youre over weight,

Weight is over rated!. It should be how you feel and look!. Weight is just a number like your age!.

Your doctor should be able to tell your BMI and any gym!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you have a larger build or lots of muscle, then BMI doesn't really tell you much!.
If your worried see your doctor-they will take other measurements to make sure you are OK!.
If you don't feel or look fat then love yourself for who you are-not just what the scales say (or the BMI lol)!.

You don't have big bones, you're body is probably just more voluptuous that other and that can add more weight!. Think of Beyonce or JLo their not fat just full!. Try cutting out sugar and eat more proteins for a month see if that helps!. let me know!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes go to the gym and ask them to measure your body fat %!. Height weight charts mean nothing if you are more muscular than normal!. Pro athletes for example can have 10% body fat but since they weigh like 250 BMI would say they are obese!. My BMI is 31 by height weight chart, but my body fat % in reality is only 21 (according to my personal trainers test performed at my gym!.) 31 would make me over weight where as 21 is considered very good or ideal for my age!.!.!. so muscle mass can make a huge difference!. Also a doctor could probably do the test for you at an annual check up!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

screw the numbers how do you feel!? Are you healthy and happy!? Thats all that counts in the end!. I know for a fact the people that come around when you're thin and hot aren't the same ones ther when you're not!. So eat good and be merry!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

it depends how you look at it!.

you could be a 300 lb person who eats nothing but potato chips or you could be a 300 lb person who works out big time

you shouldn't judge yourself by what the BMI scanning says!. personally, 148 lbs for 5'3 sounds a little over normal!. try losing at least 10 lbs!.

im 5'71/2 and weigh 145 lbs!. sooo theres a difference :)

I am a doctor!. That is a bit high, but like others say, BMI doesnt account muscle!. I am 6'5" and 224!. Which is slightly high, but I lift alot of weights, my bodyfat is only 14percent!. THats the number that counts!. If you dont want to go to a gym or doctor, you can by body fat scales, or body fat hand grips!. I think Omron makes one, they are really popular, even wal mart sells them, check your body fat for your age, if thats high, than looooose weightWww@Answer-Health@Com

BMI doesn't take into account your muscle to fat ratios so it can be inaccurate!. If you work out consistently and have a healthy diet you have nothing to worry about!. I'm 5'4" and 143 and that's 2lbs away from being considered "overweight' for my BMI, but I'm a size 6 and totally healthy!. Don't fret!Www@Answer-Health@Com

you would have to find some place that either can use the calipers or immerse you in water to find your body fat!. I agree, don't go by the generic BMI calculators!. they don't take into account bone structure or muscle mass!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

a skinny person can be classified as underweight although he/she is pretty normal 4 their body
