Question:

On those fitness shows on TV, the people lose 5-10 lbs per week. How do you pull that off in real life?

Answers:

You probably don't. You need to bear a couple of things in mind.

One, these folks have professional chefs and trainers at their beck and call.

Two, they have all day every day to workout as much as they want. Some are working out for hour after hour every day while they are on those shows. (not something anyone with a real life could actually do).

Finally, most of the contestants are VERY overweight, as in clinically obese. The heavier you are, the easier the weight comes off...at first. If you are 300 pounds, of course you might lose 5-10 lbs in a week at first. Whereas if you are only 25-30 pounds overweight, it is just not going to come off at that rate, because you are already fairly close to a healthy weight.

Those shows are entertaining, but ultimately, so unrealistic.
