Why am i rubbish at press ups?!

Question: Why am i rubbish at press ups!?
hey, i'm a sixteen year old male, i do Muay Thai three times a week!.
so, as i'm fighting soon, i wanted to build up chest muscle!.
my friend advised i start with some press ups!. however, i've realised i'm pathetic at press ups - anything more than 10 and i really struggle!. i'm about 6 foot 1 6 foot 2 and weigh 70 kilos!.
i'm not weak, or weedy, so i don't see why i struggle with them so much!. additoanlly, i tried doing some light weight lifting at my thai boxing gym (bench presses) and found i was okay at these, although after my workout, my left felt really workedout and my right felt like it had done nothing!. why am i so bad at press-ups, and why does my left always feel much more worked out than my right!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
You need some progression - if you can only do 10 thats fine, jus ensure your form and technique are good!.!.ie!.!.back straight, chest 2 inches off the ground in the down position!.!.!.the way to progress is do your 10 but more often - make sure you do 10 every hour throughout the day, also try elevating your feet on the sofa or a chair to make the exercise harder, another option is one week do as many as possible, then everyday add one rep - if you reach 15 say and cant do anymore, do 15 everyday until you can manage 16 and go from there - as a kung fu instructor i get my students to relax on the way down using your muscles to break before hitting the ground, then explode up - explosive power is what you need in muay thai and this should achieve it if you work hard and dedicate some time to it - work hard!Www@Answer-Health@Com

First, you are pretty tall, so it is a safe bet that you have fairly long arms, which means your upper body has to travel more distance during the press up, which makes it more difficult!. Second, you are pretty light for your height, so you probably aren't loaded with muscle!. The best thing you can do is keep at it, try putting a light weight on your back and do as many as you can, do a few sets of these!. Then the next time you do them, do them normal!. Alternate this!. Give it a few weeks, you will double your reps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i think you need to get used to doing press ups, im rubbish at chin up;s but if i do them everyday by the end o the week i can do more then before, keep practising them and you will be ok with themWww@Answer-Health@Com
