I made a goal several years ago that I was going to do 200 push-ups!. (I decided this after getting slammed quickly in an arm wrestling mach by a guy that had been able to do 200 push-ups while in the Navy, and was the champion of his Carrier)!. Anyway, the first day I tried it, I could only do 20 or so!.!.!.very embarrassed!. However, I stuck with it and 4 evenings a week I would do push-ups until I could do no more!. My #'s slowly increased, and to my delight, within a year I did 200 consecutive push-ups!. To answer your question more precisely, you should see and feel a tightening in your pecs within a couple of weeks!. Push-ups will not give you Terminator pecs, but will greatly tone them along with shoulder, back, biceps, and triceps!. Not to mention, push-ups provide incredible strength!. If you are not sore the day following push-ups, you are doing too few!. Also, I would not do them everyday!. You can hurt your shoulder joints if you go overboard!. I now only do 2 sets of 100 twice a week, because my joints got to bothering me!. I like doing any exercises, including push-ups or treadmill(which is good cardio workout, by the way) in the evenings!. I know that this is not possible for everyone, but I like to get my heart rate up in the evening, as to burn calories while I sleep!. Hope this helps!. By the way, pull-ups are great for strength building also!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
