Question: P90x question!?
are there different levels to the DVD's!? if i start and cant keep up in the beginning do i just stand there and watch until i can start again!? and do you recommend purchasing from amazon to avoid the "upselling" and automatic enrollment in the "club" that continues to charge to your credit card!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
i'm in week 4 of P90X, age 33, male!. i'm using it in combination with running/cycling to lose some excess weight and get back in shape (not develop magazine abs and get dates at the beach)!.

there *are* actually different levels in P90X, despite what other people have answered!. there is a "lean" workout series that emphasizes less weights and more fitness!. there is a normal series, and a heavy series for those who want to go twice a day!. each mixes the 12 workouts in different orders and frequencies, although each individual workout only comes in one variety!. i'm doing the lean series first, and then i'll try the normal version!.

i would also say that the host does a great job giving advice for those who are struggling!. he suggests ways to make most exercises easier, from the obvious "use less weight" to the subtle "bend your back knee if you need to" or "if you turn your right foot outward, you'll find it easier!." he also advocates taking breaks and pausing where you need to (but not giving up completely)!. he often has his three partners each do a different variety of each exercise so you can find a version that works for you!. one might lean on a chair, one might have her arms totally straight, one might do pushups with knees on the ground!. he also knows that some people are in week 1, and some are in week 12, and he addresses both (although moreso the starters)!. i was actually surprised how encouraging he was to the viewer - it's not like macho steroidal boot camp or anything!.

lastly i would say there is a common sense aspect to it!. when i started the abs workout (eleven exercises, 25 reps each) i did the first exercise 20 times, and then i was fried for the rest!. i gave up, and figured i would not do the abs workouts anymore because i was too weak!. later i realized if i did 10 of each instead of 25, it would give me a heck of a workout, but not fry me completely!. i could do all eleven exercises!. then i moved to 12 of each in week 2!. then 14!. soon i'll get to 25!. so that worked for me!. if you could do all exercises perfectly from day one, you wouldn't need this series!.

trust me, he knows that many people starting this workout can't even bend over!. so he walks you through it!. i hate silly quotes, but he does repeat "do your best, forget the rest" which applies here!.

as for where to buy, i am working on my own, and doing well!. i'm not a big fan of recurring charges, but i'm sure the support is great for many people!. sounds like a personal preference!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

KClark97,

O!.K!. let me see if I can break it down for you!. P90X is a very difficult program and it does not have different levels!. All Tony Horton asks of you is that you try your best!. He even says in most of the videos that if you need to take a break press pause, and then unpause when you are ready to come back in!.

Lately I have been dealing with a sore knee, so I have been fast forwarding through exercises that put strain on my knee!.

Also I don't know what exactly comes with the program on Amazon, but I do know if you go that route you will not be getting the added support of a coach or a team behind you pushing you to do your best!. Plus enrolling in the club also gives you the chance to win something every single day you log in to work out!.

If you just want to work out and not take advantage of the perks, then go with Amazon!. Just don't go bad mouthing the program if you give up, because you got no help from anyone!.

I know people who have gone both ways and 80% of the people who did not join the club ended up stopping P90X before the 90 days!. While on the other hand almost 100% who have joined the club have completed the 90 days and some have even started a second 90 days!. It is totally up to you!.

I'm not even going to talk about the Recovery Drink, wow what a life saver!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hey Chief,

Ive done P90X and I would say Im a converted bodybuilder over to it!.!.!.and I found the exact same things difficult that you do!. Its brutal aint it!?

Now, Im somewhat on the otherside of the rotation!.!.!.and I still have a long ways to go (bought the P90X plus package as well)!.!.!.so let me throw out some hints for each one that worked for me!.

1!. Dont fast forward, pause!. There are going to be times you are going to waste out before everyone else does!.!.!.especially in the beginning!. If you finish on shorter reps (such as with pull ups)!.!.sit and watch!. If you start getting tired, pause and catch your wind!.!.!.but try to keep your mind in the workout!. Dont sit down!.

2!. DO NOT SKIP exercises!. I highly recommend this part!. I also have bad knees, and Plyometrics was torture for me in the beginning!. But now magically not only do I not feel the pain in the Plyo, Im not feeling it much at all day to day!. Sometimes you could end up skipping out on an intricate part of the workout!. Keep in mind, these exercises are in that order for a reason!.

3!. Dont expect to finish the hard ones!. Core, Plyo!.!.!.its about consistently doing your best!. It took me two months to finish the Plyo workout, and then once I got to that I started trying to jump higher with each exercise (which gassed me out faster than when I was weak)!. The point being, you can definitely see change with consistency, and obviously you want to try to needle past your limits, but not barrage thru them!. If you gas out!.!.!.and when I mean gas out I mean done!.!.!.dont take a fifteen minute break, call it a day!. Some of them you really have to work up to!.

4!. DONT skip entire workouts!. Believe me on this one!. These routines cause so much change when done the right way!.!.!.and they are positive!.

Last and final point!. Dont dismiss the above guy cause he was pitching!. The word of P90X needs to get out by guys like him, you and me!. There are ALOT of misinformed people going to gyms and beating themselves into a state of uniform injuries (and some of these people are being taught to by trainers)!. The faster the word of P90x gets out, the better the overall health of everyone becomes!.

Trust me when I say this, very soon, P90X will be the standard in all workouts!.

Hey, my email is kieran27@yahoo!.com!. Let me know how things are going with it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
