Question: Are there any diet requirements to become a vegaterian, like vitamins!?
Answers:
You will probably find that you are short of certain vitamins and minerals unless you fortify your diet!.

Particularly vitamin B12 and zinc!.

Some foodstuffs are fortified with B12, such as some brands of margerine, marmite, bovril etc!.

Lentils and chick peas are high in zinc!.

If you eat no fish, milk, butter, eggs, then you might need to take B12 vitamin supplements!.

"Vitamin B-12 deficiency can potentially cause severe and irreversible damage, especially to the brain and nervous system!. At levels only slightly lower than normal, a range of symptoms such as fatigue, depression, and poor memory may be experienced!.[18] However, these symptoms by themselves are too nonspecific to diagnose deficiency of the vitamin!. There are no requirements to become a vegetarian, but in becoming one you have to realise that you will lose nutrition in your diet by cutting out the meat you would have eaten!.!.!.

There are certain foods other than meat which contain the same type of vitamins!. Search RDI for different things and you will get a good idea of the types of food you will need to eat to replace meat :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

No, vegetarians can get all the nutrition they need from their food and don't have to rely on supplements as long as their diet is varied!.

Eg bread doesn't contain all the essential amino acids needed by the human body nor do beans but the two together complete each other and provide all the essential amino acids!.

Only vegans will need vitamin B12 which is only found in food of animal origin including dairy products!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Being a vegetarian is much healthier than eating meat!. If you eat vegetables, fruit, soy, things like that, you'll be fine!. Taking a multi-vitamin is always a good idea too!. But be careful about which kind you get because some have gelatin in them, which is from dead animals!. If you are doing it for health reasons, then I guess that wouldn't matter to you!. People that eat meat usually get way too much protein!. As a vegetarian, you can still get plenty!. Also, if you are okay with dairy, then cheese and things like that are a great source of protein!. I like buying Morning Star and Boca brand fake meat!. They are really good and good for you!. My carnivorous boyfriend and friends even like them!. = )Www@Answer-Health@Com

No!. Not if a varied diet is eaten!. Pulses, grains, fruit and vegetables!.
If milk, eggs are allowed, so much the better!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't exactly know what you mean, however if you become a vegetarian, you will probably lack protein!. Eating eggs and/or nuts can help this!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

There are some health risks in a vegetarian diet that you need to know about and you can find them in a web search for "vegetarian diet" + "health hazards"!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
