I'm going to answer you with a response that might be a bit different.
Although running has many aerobic benefits, you don't necessarily "burn fat" by running. You will lose weight in the short term, specifically through calorie deprivation (you will burn off more than you take in) however at a certain point while running, your body will stop burning stored energy (fat) and metabolize whatever is easiest to convert to energy (carbohydrates).
I've added some links to the science behind this claim, but for actually burning "fat" as opposed to just burning calories, walking at a good pace for a set amount of time will work better.
Keep in mind that you will burn more calories running, but they will be from all different types of energy stores, and not a majority of fat.
