Irregular bowel movement. I usually have it about one a week maybe twice. I have seen a doctor.?

My doctor says it is not unusual and that everyone's body is different. I eat apples and plums and drink about 4-8 cups of water a day. I would like to have a bowel movement everyday to keep waste out of stomach. My doctor prescribed me something but it makes me naucious and dizzy so i stopped taking them. Is there something i can take to you the bathroom more often? I also walk/jog about a mile every day or every other day.

It is true everyones system is different. Bulking up on the fiber may help you. Did you know that apples and plums actually have only 3 grams of fiber per serving? That isn't a whole lot. It is usually all the juice and fructose in them that loosens peoples' bowels.

Try bulking up on the fiber by eating oat bran cereal. Oat brain has about six grams of fiber per serving. How about beans. Kidney beans have about 9 grams per serving. That will make you go to the bathroom. Depending on where you live you might be able to find high fiber breakfast cereal. Make sure you read the label. Some of them have as much as 14 grams of fiber per serving.

Make sure you add the fiber to your diet slowly. Start with a high fiber breakfast and drink plenty of fluids with it. When you get used to having a high fiber breakfast, then you can add a high fiber lunch, then a dinner. Gradually build yourself up to about 60 grams of fiber per day. Then you will be having about two bowel movements per day.

It is always better to get the fiber in your food rather than getting it in those mixes, pills or drinks.
