Calorie Intake Versus Exercise?!

Question: Calorie Intake Versus Exercise!?
Hello, everyone!

Well, I decided to calculate calories for the day and I was just wondering (based upon a 2000-calorie-a-day diet), am I supposed to eat 2000 calories in addition to what I burn off!? For example, if I burn off 800 calories swimming, should I eat an extra 800 calories to stay healthy!?

Today before dinner I had consumed roughly 850 calories of food but then swam off 800!. Is this healthy or excessive exercise!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Here's how to estimate the number of calories you'd need in an average day to maintain your weight:

step 1: Multiply your weight in pounds by 11!. This is how many calories an average guy would burn if he went through the day without eating or moving!.

step 2: Multiply that number by your activity factor:

sedentary = 30%
somewhat active = 40%
active = 50%
super mega death active! = 75%

step 3: add those two numbers together

Example:

my weight = 165 pounds x 11

= 1815 calories

1815 x !.40 = 726

726 + 1815 = 2541 calories (Amount needed to maintain my weight!!!)

Good Luck : )Www@Answer-Health@Com

the 2000 calorie suggestion on food packages is aimed at absolutely nobody!. the "RDA" is a # aimed at a NON-active middle aged white male who's roughly 154lbs living in a mildly temperate zone of the USA!.

It was developed by the Gov't as a rough guide!.

your calories per day are based on your age, weight, bodyfat percentage, activity level, etc!.!.

You have a maintenance level of cals (the # you'd need to stay EXACTLY the same)

Then you have the cals towards whatever your current goals are!.!.!. e!.g!. if I'm a runner, but I want to lose some bodyfat, I need slightly less than my maintenance calories!. If I'm lifting and trying to gain weight, I need MORE than my maintenance calories!.

If my girlfriend and I both went on a 2000 calorie a day diet, I'd shrivel up, and she'd gain about a pound of bodyfat per week!.

Secondly, how'd you determine you swam 800 calories worth!? Again, you'd need to know your weight, age, heart rate, bodyfat %, etc!.!.!. if you're burning 800 calories swimming, I'm going to assume you're a competitive high level swimmer!?Www@Answer-Health@Com
