Should I take a day off from the gym?!

Question:

Should I take a day off from the gym?

I've been struggling to lose weight. I have about 60lbs to lose. I already made life-long changes to my diet - and now I'm working on increasing my daily activity levels.

I'm pretty active as it is. I'm 20 years old, I work at a childcare center (5 days a week 8 hours a day). Of course when working with kids you never really get a chance to sit down. And then I come home and I have siblings (Ages 5,7and8) who always want me to go in the pool or do something with them. I'm also a full time college student.

I am not taking any summer classes and I decided to use this time to go back to the gym (I have a membership but only get to go like once every other week most times during the year)...

I went to the gym on Sunday for about 45 minutes and then again yesterday (monday) for about an hour and a half.

My body is SO sore! Can I go again today? Or should I give my body a rest and go tomorrow?

Answers:

you need to rest your muscles...allow them to regenerate and repair themeselves...typical for 48 hours.

You should only workout everyday if you are doing a different muscle group.

example: day 1 - upper body
day 2 - lower body
day 3 - rest
day 4 - upper body
day 5 - lower body

example 2: day 1 chest and back
day 2 - rest
day 3 - shoulders, legs, abs
day 4 - rest
day 5 - biceps and triceps

good luck!!!
