What are your views on diet pills that can be prescribed by the doctor?

I am for it-ONLY if there are no health risks involved. I used to be on prescription diet pills. My doctor told me there are risks with diet pills because some of them contain Phen-Phen (sp?). But he did some research and found a pill called Meridia. This pill cut down my portion sizes and reduced my appetite and it is aimed at reducing sweets. I lost A LOT of weight taking this and it made me healthier. There were no side effects with me when I was taking them, and I do believe there are no risks of dependency. Here is information on the drug. The only down fall with this was the price. It was very expensive but well worth it.
