What's a good summer diet?!


Question: What's a good summer diet!?

Try to get 90 minutes of exercise in at least three days a week, doing both cardio and weight training!. A pound of muscle burns approx 35 cal/day, so don't cut out weight training!. Gaining muscle mass will increase your body's metabolic set point and help you burn more calories!.

In addition to exercising, be sure to eat healthy and don't skimp to much on calories, it deprives your body of the much needed energy when doing an exercise regimen!. I would say try to get around 1800 cal/day, or 2000 if you are a really active on the go women!. Drink lots of water, and be sure to make half of your grains whole!. www!.mypyramid!.gov is a great website for dietary recommendations and they even have a calorie tracker where you can enter in what your consuming and it not only adds up the calories for you but breaks down your nutrient intake and lets you know what your diet may be deficient in!.

Remember you want to loose weight slowly, around 1 to 2 pounds per week to avoid stretch marks, keep your metabolism going, and avoid gaining the weight back!.

Well you don't want to miss out on your summer by angsting over your weight, so try something more enjoyable for you!. Jogging is pretty easy and it'll be nice to go outside!. If you're not into sports that much, try yoga, crunches, squats, and dance classes!.

As for diet, try to eat a big breakfast, and colder and lighter meals for lunch!. There are many types of salads, yogurts, and soy foods out there!. Adding soup to your diet is also helpful (I heard lentils do wonders)!.
