21 year old female-Is 1200 calories going to make me put on weight?!

Question: 21 year old female-Is 1200 calories going to make me put on weight!?
I am recovering from anorexia and I have reached my goal weight but I still struggle to eat the recommended amount for my age, height and weight!. On an average day I eat between 400-800 calories!. Occasionally I will have a day of eating 1200 like today and I totally freak and feel like I am going to put on weight!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Congratulations on recovering and reaching you goal weight it must be hard for you!. You body needs about 1200-1400 + cals per day to maintanain your metabolic rate, to eat below this your body stores the body fat for survival!. If you are putting on weight at 1200 cals this would be muscle weight not fat, try to maintain your DRI and light exercise to maintain you muscle mass!. Keep the good work up!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your best bet is to discuss your eating with your dietician and your doctor!. You said it correctly -- you are recovering from anorexia, not recovered!. Putting on weight may not be a bad thing for you, but not knowing you I can't say!. But your doctor can!.

I can tell you that 400-800 calories is far less than a typically healthy diet!. It's unlikely that you're meeting your nutritional needs on that restrictive of a diet!. 1200 calories will not hurt you, and you likely need even more than that!. But, as I said, your doctor and/or dietician is the best person to give you specific advice!.

Good luck in your recovery!
