Weight GAIN question for you smarty pants!?!

Question:

Weight GAIN question for you smarty pants!?

how long before you eat something really junky do you gain weight? (Assume that this junky this is so bad that it WOULD cause weight gain). Thanks

Answers:

It is true, once you swallow something, the weight of that food item is added to your body.

Of course, for this to cause any permanent weight gain, your body must digest that food item, and convert some of the energy found in it to fat.

Normally, weight gain cannot be attributed to any one specific food item, but is caused instead by a lifestyle pattern of eating more than needed, just as avoiding specific foods is less effective than just eating less to begin with.

People with various food-related mental disorders attempt to prevent weight gain through the use of enemas, induced vomitting, and sometimes diet pills designed to prevent the digestion of some food matter. In general, these strategies can only prevent about 10% of the weight gain that a typical person would experience should they have eaten the same meals. However, it can really mess up your chemical balance.

To estimate the time it takes to convert some specific food item into energy, or body fat, you will need to determine how fast your digestive system actually operates. That is, the time from going in to the time from going out. Various methods include fasting, and seeing how long it takes to stop, and then restart passing. It is also possible to eat various foods which cause color changes in your stool...

But that's all gross. Most estimates claim somewhere between 6-24 hours as a normal time frame.
