If you are in extreme pain when running, then it is a sign that there may be something physically wrong!. The smart thing to do would ease back on the workout for a couple weeks to let your body heal!. The probable culprit in this case is shin splints (have you increased your workout intensity lately!?)!. If this is the case you could try icing your shins after the run to ease the pain!. The worst case scenario is a stress fracture, but there would be pain outside of your workout if this is the case!.

One word!.!.!.!.tendonitis!.
Your shins are loaded with tendons and they can become inflamed with exercise!.
If you go to your doctor, he will suggest anti-inflammatory medication like motrin (800mg every 4 hours as needed) and if that doesn't work, he may prescribe a mild steroid!.
If it's determined that it's not tendonitis then it could be a stress fracture!. You could possibly have developed shin splints!.

Don't tough out the pain since it will only get worse!. It's not a muscle pain!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
