Is it good or bad to exercise when you're sick?!


Question: Is it good or bad to exercise when you're sick!?
Would it help to exercise or would the strain on your body make it take longer to get over a cold!? I have this logical battle in my head over it every time I get sick!. Educated answers or experience pleaseWww@Answer-Health@Com

First of all it all depends what your "sickness" is due to!. But in general, both theoretically and clinically, it is good for you to get a little mild to moderate exercise in!. This is because as you exercise, you improve overall circulation throughout your body!. This includes lymph fluid as well, fluid that your white blood cells use as in roads to travel throughout the body!. So increasing the flow increases the chance that your immune cells will encounter and attack the invader and thereby purge your body of foreign invaders!. Also exercise increases the body's core temperature creating a very nasty environment for the bugs to replicate!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

if you have a cold or a virus and your exercise is strenious it may decrease your bodies immune system!.this has been documented through several professional athletic studies!.if you are running a high fever then the concern will be dehydration and cellular oxygen consumtion depending on the duration of the exercise!.!.the best advice would be to check with your doctor over any concerns you have!.I do not know if there is a web site but the University of Florida and the University of West Virginia have good exercise phisiology programs that may offer some online informationWww@Answer-Health@Com

yes it does help because it gets you out of that sick state that you are in and well when im sick i dont really feel like sleeping because im doing somthing active and it makes me feel better and im usually sick in like 2 days because i think positive! i dont start thinking im sick and letting myself down !Www@Answer-Health@Com

I work in the Health and Field!. It's been my experience, from both sides, that rest is the best!. Lots of rest and liquids!. Your body needs a chance to recover/heal!. If it's more serious than just a cold, you may want to see your physician!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
