My doctor told me that I needed to watch my carb intake.?!

Question:

My doctor told me that I needed to watch my carb intake.?

I recently started on a medication that will cause you to gain weight, and it has. My doctor told me on my last visit that I should start watching my carb intake. I don't know anything about carbs and what the daily recommended intake would be. I have heard 20 but that has to be wrong. There is no way I can do that. I have kept an eye on my diet and I probably take in about 150 a day. But I also do cardio five days a week for 1 hour each day.

Answers:

Did you tell him that you were working out as much as you do? He may not have told you to limit them if he knew? If he did know then he is not thinking right.

I don't know what the suggested limit is but you need a lot of carbs if you work out hard on a regular basis.
(carbs give you long lasting energy)

I would only cut back on them if you start to gain weight. Lean proteins are also good/necessary if you work out a lot, so don't forget them too!

Hope this helps!
