what is it, what causes it, and is it unhealthy?
Answers:
Freezer burn happens to both meats and vegetables that are frozen without the 'proper' wrappings ... they 'dry out' and turn brownish in color. I don't eat stuff with 'freezer burn' because they don't taste as good, and don't have the 'nutrients' they'd have if they hadn't gotten 'freezer burned' ... but you can eat stuff with freezer burn ... it just won't 'taste as good' or be as 'healthy' for you to eat.
