What does Protein do to you?

Is it true that if you intake lots of protein while trying to gain wiehgt you'll put on slim weight while you lift weights while your trying to gain weight, i need to gain 17lbs and not turn fat.
DO you think its a good idea for me to take the Pure Protein Chewy Chocolate Chip Bars, and Body FOrtress vanilla flavored Whey Protein Shake, even since they are high in fats, they have lots of protein.

Proteins is one of the most important components of the human body, every time you work out your muscles wear and tears as a part of the normal metabolism, the best way to restore this muscle is by eating proteins. In the other hand carbs are converted more faster into energy than proteins but some of them are stored in the body as fat that is why when your are trying to loose weight and keep muscle mass it is recommended that your diet is based on proteins and vegetables. Also you should drink enough water to keep your body in excellent condition.
