As far as your mom is concerned, belly dancing is an ancient art form that has a lot of integrity!. It has unfortunately been misunderstood and misrepresented by many people!. Do a little research into the history of belly dancing!. Maybe if your mom sees that belly dancing is a real art and talent, she will understand your wanting to do it!.
