Exercise is not the most important step!. Diet and nutrition are number one!.

In order to lose weight but not muscle you have to feed the muscle enough protein to maintain!. If you want to grow the muscle then you need to feed it even more protein!. While the protein goes for repair and building you also need to have an energy source for your daily activities and your workouts!. The best source of energy for what you want to accomplish is carbohydrates!. You do not want any starches!. Eliminate starch completely from your diet!. Potatoes, beans, corn, pasta, bread, peas, carrots all contain a lot of starch!. Eliminate all sugar from your diet!. Eliminate all artificial sweeteners!.

Drink a gallon of water a day-critical to fat loss!. How is your body going to shed the used and burned up fat and cellular waste!? It needs the water to flush them out of your system!.

Take a multi-mineral supplement-helps to build bones, cartilage and connective tissues!. Also helps to maintain fluid balance and cellular respiration!.

Start with these diet changes and you will see results fast without much exercise!.

As far as exercise goes!. Building muscle is the best way to burn fat!. Please do not over train!. Too many people cause their bodies to get run down by over training!. You can cause your body to store way more fat than you will burn if you do it wrong!. Always exercise shortly (half hour/45 min) after eating!. Do resistance training!. Form is very important!. You will see a lot of people throwing and dropping the weights!.!.!.this is not resistance training!. You should have control over the weight at all times!. Lowering and lifting!. I am not sure what kind of facility or equipment you have access to, but work out your body 3 times a week!. Go as hard as you can for 30 minutes!. Then do your cardio!. you can do cardio 5 days a week!.

Plenty of rest is important! That is when your body does the repairs and builds muscle!. Get lots of sleep at night!. Take a nap in the afternoon!.

If you want more specifics I can help!.

Good luck to you!.

You really need to be excercising regularly, maybe start with 3, 30 min cardio sessions a week!. if you combine this with a weights programme you will lose fat, maintain and build muscle!. Doing cardio work and therefore increasing your metabolism will use up the bodies fat stores!. Make sure that you do weights aswell or you could create inbalance in your body!. To keep your motivation levels up you can mix the training up, doing a variety of activities such as biking, running, rowing etc!. On the diet side of things you will need to have a low fat hi carb diet (dont take any notice of low carb diets, there not good for you!!) So eating things like musli, and wholemeal bread will be very good for you!. You will need to excersise regularly and have a healthy diet to lose fat!. Having both these will in turn give you more energy, so you win all round!!! Good Luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well, not sure what a "muffin" top is, but try this!.

When you plan your diet, make it heavy with lean protein, and carb lite!. Cut all sugar sweetened sodas and junk food!. When you gotta have something salty and crunchy, eat pork rinds and dill pickles!. Lots of green vegetables!. Limit bread and pasta!. Stick with whole wheat when possible!. Piece of fruit each day!.

For exercise, at least 1/2 hour of lifting and 1/2 hour or more of cardio each day!.

Get at least 8 hours of sleep per night!. More important than you think!.

Believe it or not, eating is the key!. You have to eat to build muscle and lose fat!. I started about a month ago with about 1200 calories a day and 20 minutes on the treadmill each day!. I saw some results, but not much and I was tired alot!. I increased my food intake to around 1500 calories per day with the same amount of time on the treadmill and then the pounds and inches just started melting off!. I have lost 27 pounds so far!. And nothing looks flabby on me!. I am really looking quite tonedWww@Answer-Health@Com

Hi there,

I think you might be getting a little mixed up with what you want exactly!. You say that you want to lose "weight" but that means you might want to get rid of some muscle too!. You then say that you'd like to "shape" (I'd call it tone) your body a little which implies you want to build some muscle!. I'm not trying to pick at your question - I just want to clarify the point for you!.

To answer it in the best way, I am going to look at it as if you want to get rid of fat AND build muscle at the same time!. If you're looking to "trim" and "tone" your body, and espectially because you suggest you are not that overweight, I would suggest you start performing more intensive aerobic exercises such as jogging!. I wouldn't think you need to change the whole way you eat or go on a diet because if you're wanting to build muscles - it's better to do it all with exercise!.

Exercises like jogging won't exactly "build" your muscles on your stomach but they will help reduce the extra fat around there!. Depending on how fit you are, you should go on daily or bi-daily jogs of around a mile!. To build muscles, you should concentrate on anaerobic exercises such as sit-ups to help build muscles!.

These muscle-building exercises will give your muscles the toning and training they need to grow and become more prominent!. To start to see a real difference with sit-ups, you should be looking to do no more than 100 every day (more than that will often hurt your muscles)!.

If you stick to doing those two forms of exercise - jogging and sit-ups, you should see real improvements in a week or two!. Remember, you should do them as often as you can (I!.E every single day)!.
