What happens to your body when you go on a very restrictive diet...say 500 calor!
Question:
What happens to your body when you go on a very restrictive diet...say 500 calories a day?
the average diet is 2000 calories a day so most ppl burn that amount per day right? so if you only take in 500 calories, the other 1500 would come from stored fat??? correct?
Answers:
People don't necessarily burn 2000 a day. The average calorie intake is recommended at a certain amount because we need to take in the appropriate amount of nutrients, not because it's what a person would normally burn off.
A very restrictive diet such as 500 calories a day will cause your body to go into starvation mode. You would lose weight but you'll gain it much easier, even within a short amount of time, because your body thinks there's a famine and stores whatever fat it can get. It can also lead to some really serious problems like heart damage.
