Binge-eaters: I need an opinion, please?!

Question:

Binge-eaters: I need an opinion, please?

So I've recently identified myself as a binge-eater and I have very, very low self-esteem. I was wondering what you think about this way to try to help myself into recovery.
I'm thinking of trying the master cleanse or lemonade diet (with a a break every 7 days) for perhaps 3 weeks. I think that this would not only help me with raising my self confidence coz it will at least help me lose weight, but at the same time, I could really focus on my binge-eating problem and what's causing it and everything (I have my psychiatrist to help me).
So what do you guys think?

Answers:

I think the part about having your psychiatrist help is a really great thing, but the cleansing lemonade diet thing is only going to make the binging that much worse when you are done. If you really want to cleanse your body try going vegetarian for a few weeks, you would have to be adding tons of cheese and butter to overdo it on the veggies. If you eat vegetables and fruits, you get a lot more volume for your calories, but you need to watch out for what you put on them. Try the butter spray instead of actual butter, it has no fat and very little calories, and you could spray it on each and every bite if you really wanted to. You can eat a whole bag of frozen broccoli, or a whole head of lettuce, and barely be at 100 calories, so you don't have to starve and binge, you can actually eat quite a lot, but not feel guilty about it. Oh, and there is this thing, I think it's sparkpeople.com where you set up a name and password, and they give you calorie counts, and track fat, protein, and carbs too. There's all kinds of stuff on there, and it's free.
