Why am I not losing weight? Any tips?!

Question:

Why am I not losing weight? Any tips?

I'm 5'11", 195 lbs. I've been doing about 30 minutes of cardio exercise 4-5 days per week for a month and changed my diet to eating healthier foods in smaller portions more frequently throughout the day. I've been eating a lot of fruits and vegetables, eating small meals and/or healthy snacks 4-5 times per day. Before this, I was never exercising, eating lots of snacks, and several large, fattening meals every day. But after a month of diet and exercise, I have not lost a pound. Any suggestions?

Someone suggested watching the processed foods that I eat - I eat as few processed foods as possible. I also have many food allergies that make it difficult to add or remove certain things from my diet. However, I try to eat mostly natural foods that are high in fiber and protein. I have also recently started doing some light weight lifting, but nothing extreme - I really do not want to build a ton of muscle but rather lose inches and work toward better overall health.

Answers:

Your body wont even start to burn fat until about 20 minutes give or take. Bump up your work out to an hour 3 days a week.

You may want to take a closer look at any processed foods your eating that you think is healthy. Alot of "granola bars" are just as bad for you as some candy bars. Whole wheat bread is just white bread with brown food coloring, find bread that has 5 grams of fiber per slice.

Try not to eat for 4-5 hours before going to bed (this one is the toughest thing for me). The theory is if you eat calories then go to bed you wont burn those calories and they will turn to fat.

If you do eat out, get your sandwich with no mayo, tons of fat.

Talk to your doctor. They will know more about your body's metabolism than most people on Yahoo answers.

Keep it up. This is a long haul thing and your pointed in the right direction.
