My chest is real sore, it's not the pectorals, it happened after bench press!

Question: My chest is real sore, it's not the pectorals, it happened after bench pressing !?
My cousin asked If I was doing wide grips, I said yes!.
He said that's the reason!.

I need a little more detail from someone with experience!.

I've been bench pressing for a couple months, with a good amount of weight!. For the first time today, I feel sore dead smack in the middle of my chest!.

The line between each chest plate, isn't a muscle is it !?

My chest use to be flat, maybe somehow it's forming muscles so that my chest comes more together like athletes!.

I'm not really sure, to wrap this question up !.!.!.!.!.

Is that line directly in the center of the chest a bone, or muscle !?

By the way, I don't bounce the bar off my chest, just incase someone uses that for a answer !Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
If you haven't done wide grip before, or if it has been a while, you are going to be sore - especially if you were going deep!. Remember that the farther you move your hands out, the more you concentrate on just your chest and you are stretching your pecs while they are loaded!. If you are concerned about the soreness, lay off the weights for a few day and work on stretching!. An easy stretch for you chest is to!.!.!.
-- reach above your head
-- bring your elbows down so that you arm forms a 90 degree angle
-- try to scrape the wall behind you with you elbows

Good job with the bench press, I wanted to let you know that if you are sore your doing it right just make sure you do atleast three chest exercises on chest day for maximum results for example!.!.!. Bench Incline flys or cable cross!.!.!.!. Flys and cable cross allways at the end because it shapes your chest the best!.!.!. But if your in chronic pain then you might have pulled a mucsle so stay out of it for a few days!.!.!. Keep it up!
