The pros and cons of sugar alcohol?!

Question: The pros and cons of sugar alcohol!?
What are the positives and negatives of intaking sugar alcohol!? I've noticed many protein bars contain sugar alcohol to substitute for their lack of regular sugar!. I also only know that one pro of sugar alcohol is that it isn't stored as fat like sugar, but I also know one con is that excessive intake causes bloating or even diarrhea (not good!)!. But that's pretty much all I know about it, so could you tell me a little more!? I'm just wanting some info, it doesn't have to be everything we know about sugar alcohols!.

Also, I've heard there are different kinds of sugar alcohols!. Is that true!? If so, what is the difference!? Are some worse than others!? Thanks in advance! :)Www@Answer-Health@Com
