Desperately need help with eating right!?!

Question:

Desperately need help with eating right!?

i know what eating right means. but eating right is real boring.
i try to eat right for 2 days then i get very upset about it and feel deprived then i eat pizza. i want to look real good but i dont know how to stay motivated to eat right 100 % of the time.
how do you do it?

Answers:

Meat Ball, it sounds like you might be setting yourself up to fail with an "all or nothing" mentality about food. Are you making extreme diet changes and basically living on "rabbit food" when you "eat healthy'?

If you are, then of course you are going to feel cranky and deprived. You can't expect to go from a diet loaded with pizza and sugar to a full-on diet of steamed broccoli and expect it to work! No one could stay motivated about that!

It's not about "dieting", it's about gradually making sustainable and long-term changes, developing new tastes and habits to last you forever. Try introducing more varieties of fruit, veg and lean protein. Try experimenting more in teh kitchen. Fill your kitchen full of good things - try grabbing a small handful of nuts & dried fruit as a snack instead of a candy bar. Switch from white flour to whole grains. Try some new recipes, new spices etc. Healthy eating can be really delicious, it doesn't have to be boring at all, and you can learn to like it a lot. You don't have to give up pizza forever! (There are healthy ways to have even that).

As a start, at least try the 80/20 rule. If you eat right 80% of the time, you can have your treats 20% of the time without too much damage. No-one stands between me and the occasional piece of chocolate!! *lol*
