Bench Press Questions?!

Question: Bench Press Questions!?
Ok, a couple questions for ya'll lifting gurus!.!.!.

When people generally/casually say "How much can you bench," do they usually refer to the max bench!?

Another question!.!.!. whenever you tell someone how much weight you lift when doing reps, do you like count the weight of the barbell!? For example, I put 35lbs on each side of the barbell (70 lbs total!.!.!.) so do I say I "lift 70lbs" or 115 lbs!? (I think Barbell is 45lbs!.!.!.)

I'm 5ft 7in, 155 lbs, just turned 18!. Is lifting 35 on each barbell pretty good or do I really need to improve!? How much do you think I might be able to max out!? (I've never tried) !. Thank you allWww@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
First of all, when asked how much you can bench, they usaually mean your 1 rep max , or 1RM!. Yes always include the weight of the bar!.(if not sure of this step on a scale with it and subtract your weight)!.

Lastly, dont worry about how much you can bench compared to other people!. You could seriously hurt yourself if you try to "show-off" !.Take your time, use proper form, and set a goal for yourself, and your bench will improve!. Good LuckWww@Answer-Health@Com

yes when they say that they do mean your MAX!. But sometimes people will answer with- "I max 250 but i rep 225", or something like that

yes you DO count the bar (its usually 45)!. that guy above me has no clue what he is talking about

It usually applies to what you can do consistently!.

In your situation you would tell them you lift 115 lbs, not 70!.

It's definitely better than the average 18 year old, and pretty good for bodybuilding!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You count the total weight!. THATS what you are lifting!. Dont let anybody tell you different!. Everybody has different maxes!. When I was 18 I was maxing out at 185lbs, there were guys doing more than me!. The weight you are doing is fineWww@Answer-Health@Com

Thay refer to how much weight you put on the bar when you do your reps!. you don't count the barbell (which is in fact 45lbs!.) In your example, you would say you lift with 35's on each side!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

total weight withe bar and plates added!.!.!.!.at your age u should be doing at least 200!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
