About Obese People?!

Question: About Obese People!?
Okay, first off, this does not concern people who are obese due to medical reasons, such as steroids or others!.

People who are obese out of choice - why!? I don't see the point in why someone would wish to have a poor body image, look relatively unattractive, and have major health issues later on in their life!. On top of that, it is nearly impossible for them to compete in sports or anything in athletics!.

So my question is, why are people obese by choice!? I really do not see any reason why this would be an outstanding quality the would want to have!.

Also - I do not believe that people cannot help being obese!. If they physically cannot help it, such as an eating disorder (which I believe to be around 2-5% of obese people), then why do they claim that they cannot help it!? Are they seriously that unwilling to be healthy or do they enjoy being obese!?
Please - this is a serious questionWww@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Okay!.!.!.Let's start with the simple facts: Morbidly obese people have health and social problems because of their weight!. This cannot be disputed!. They assuredly FEEL the limitations and stress of this condition, both physically and psycho-socially!.

Health issues run a full range from pathologically poor hygiene which causes serious infection, to being essentially crippled, to sudden cardiac death!. These conditions are cumulative, as is the disease process (you don't gain 300 pounds over night;) yet, once the process has started, only acute, total and cllinical intervention can stop the progression!. Even then, there is typically permanent damage, whether it's Type II diabetes, degenerative arthritis, or cardiomegaly!.

That being said, it is next to impossible for the individual who is wrapped in this disease process to be unaware of at least SOME ramifications: They are increasingly withdrawn, first, because of their social image, and later, because of the physical limitations!. You might think with this simple fact the diseased individual could make a conscious effort to "fix" this!. Any sane or rational person would surely not dive into an empty swimming pool, right!? The question has been answered! This disaease is primarily one of the mind, with a physical manifestation co-morbid to the disease!. It is irrational to progress to as unhealthy a level as this!.

Chronic alcoholics FEEL the progression of detrimental health as their disease progresses, but they rarely stop without clinical intervention!. Again, even THEN, the damage has been done!. Why are both these individuals "that unwilling to be healthy!?" The answer is: addiction/depression, or depression/addiction!. Thank what ever deity you pray to if you don't fall into either catagory!

Your final paragraph is 100-percent off base!. Eating disorders are absolutely NOT a physical disease!. There are no eating disorders where morbidly obese people "physically cannot help it!." If a person is morbidly obese, and cannot stop eating to the point of maintaining that level of weight, it is a psychological disorder!. "Eating disorders" are PSYCHOLOGICAL diseases with physical symptoms!. If a bulemic eats something, he/she has to make a conscious effort to purge themselves!. It is the psychological disease which causes them to keep up this unhealthy behavior, even in the presence of a near death physiological condition!. The only possible exception to this is "Pica!." This is the physical urge to eat non-food items!. Pregnant women sometimes have an overwhelming urge-which they follow- to eat dirt!. There are even people who cannot stop eating metal objects!.

In short, the psychological disorder of eating to obesity and morbid obesity is treated clinically with antidepressants and psychotherapy!. The co-morbidities are likewise treated medically!.

There are overweight people who choose through apathy to "not be in shape!." There are overweight people who are overweight because of poor diet and lifestyle; however, morbidly obese people have a psychological disorder which can only be fixed through the clinical interventions I've mentioned!. No ifs ands or butts!. Oh, it's possible for a morbidly obese individual to loose the weight through lap bands, gastric bypass, tapeworm, methamphetamine, etc!. But it is only the SYMPTOM which has been eradicated; the disease lives on!.

Hope this helps!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I never understand how aneroxia and bulimia are seen are more socially acceptable then obesity!. Either case, the person has an eating disorder!. I am a healthy weight, so I am not saying this because I am obese, but really, if you have an eating problem, you deserve the same help as another with an eating problem does!.
Being anorexic is also a choice really, so why aren't you asking why people choose this!? It looks just as bad!.!.!.

This is just my opinion anyway!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Okay you need to realize all the people who you are offending by this question!. Most people have real reasons behind obesity!. I am overweight and have been taking control of my life again lately!. For me I went through alot of things where I was so upset and instead of dealing with it I would just eat and tell me self it wasn't a big deal!. Basically I was eating away at my pain!. There are many many other reasons to obesity like genetics, you have a slow metabolism, etc!. but this is not a very kind question to ask because I was not overweight by CHOICE!Www@Answer-Health@Com

no one chooses to be obese!.!.!. please believe me!. i once was obese!.!.!. eventually had surgery - that was 6 years ago!. it changed my life!.

some people start off bad!.!.!. for instance their parents dont see to it they get any exercise & shove food in them to keep them quiet!. theres millions of different reasons as far as the road to obesity but it isnt anything anyone sets out to do!.

its a miserable way to live!. food is a serious addiction!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

hi kenny!.!.i`ve been obese all my life but i wont be rude to you!.!.lets be professional!.!.i would just say it depends on their way of being brought up and of course external influences, diet and lifestyle!.!.and for one of your questions towards the end of your article i would say yes, binge eating is really a very seriously emotionally unhealthy thing!.!.!.of course, there are lots of people on earth who may be obese but are happy with their lives,so they dont consider it a necessity to be active in sports or anything of that stuff!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

They concentrate on the satisfaction of the taste of the food more than the idea that they will get fat or unhealthy!. It becomes like the primary concern!. Then worry and thinking right is pushed to the curve, in which they will pay attention to later!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I do not understand why someone woudl be so judgmental by CHOICE! why!?!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

So you think that people are that way by choice!? Well not all are in fact some of it is hereditary or how they were taught when they were kids!. If the parents let the kids eat what they want and as much as they want then that sets them up to be overweight as kids and adults since they don't know how to control their eating habits!. As far as sports go, there are overweight people that compete in sports and do quite well so that isn't right when you say they are unable to do sports!. People can change the way they look, but it is easier said then done especially if they don't have the support from friends or loved ones!. I have seen alot of people who act like they don't really care, but unless you know them personally then how can you say that they want to be obese!. Maybe it's by choice or maybe not, but i don't judge people unless i know the facts and just because someone is obese doesn't mean that they have major health problems either!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well im overweight and not obese but this is a medical thing called Pollycystic ovarian sydrome, look just because someone doesn't have a medical reason food is an addiction rather like crack or weed!.!.!.
but it's a double edged sword, because we MUST eat!.
having said that some people choose obesity because their partners think that it's hot!.

There is often more than what you see on tv about obese people, i think before you judge you should ask someone actually in the position, and it's no good asking on the internet!.!.!. how can you get a response from the heart on the internet!?!?

I suggest you also phrase sensitive questions (that are meant to be serious) like this a little more politely considering obesity can cause severe lack of self confidence that can eat at you for years!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I can't speak for majorly obese but I carried an extra 40 lbs for a while and still have an extra 15lbs!. For me personally, the hardest thing is sweets!. I love sweets!. I crave them!. I could skip all regular food and eat only sweets easily!. So though I do not eat sweets constantly it is really difficult to stay away from them entirely!.

Also, I've heard that when you're extremely overweight it is very painful!. If it hurts to walk or exercise, it's just easier not to!.

It's not that overweight people are totally lazy!. It's a habit!. It is something we've done our whole lives!. Unlike an alcoholic, people who are overweight can't just stop eating entirely!. It's a very difficult cycle to break!. Please try not to be so harsh on overweight folks!. They can have an extremely hard time of things and even though it's a result of their own actions, that doesn't mean they deserve to be treated poorly!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
