Proper technique would be to :
1!. keep your fists aligned with your wrist at all times!. (very common mistake to bend wrist back as you lower the bar)!.
2!. Lower the bar until it almost touches your chest!. (almost touching because some people cheat by bouncing the bar off their chest!.)
3!. Your elbows will be a little lower than the bench!.
4!. Lift with firm grasp on bar and firm aligned wrist!.
