Question: Will doing 4 sets of 15 reps at the lowest weight on upper body equipment get me anywhere!?
Someone suggested that to me - normally I do 3 sets - the first at 12, the next 8, then 4 usually!.

I'm looking to lean up and tone! Also to build a little more strength!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
A basic principle of strength training is progressive overload!. That is, you need to increase the difficulty every few workouts to continue to progress!.

Starting off light is fine, but you need to be regularly increasing the weight otherwise you will plateau, get bored, and likely quit!.

The recommendation for high reps / low weight usually is accompanied by a concern for adding bulk!. But that is a myth, as women don't have the hormones to easily add bulk!.

Even guys can't add bulk if their diet is calorie restricted!. So if you have concern about bulk, a slightly restrictive diet will prevent bulk!.

Lower reps with heavier weight is much better at producing strength increases!. You don't need to produce bulky muscles to get stronger muscles!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yeah it will get you somewhere! Some people use cans of baked beans etc and they work fine, so what youre thinking of doing should be ok!. Just work up to the higher weights when you're ready!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
