Answers:

I'm in the same boat you are. Here are some things I'm doing for myself that you might be able to look at and think you can do too.

1) I'm drinking 8 glasses of water a day.
2) I'm eating several smaller meals a day. For instance, I'll have a protein enriched breakfast, nibble on celery and peanut butter, have a small salad for lunch, eat an apple and then have a light dinner. Eating several smaller (healthy) meals a day will help you from gorging at 3 meals a day. It can also help clear your mind.
3) Start doing some excercise. Cut 15 minutes of computer time each day and just do some excercise. Like, for instance, tonight I took 30 minutes of my computer time and took a nice stroll with my dog. Tomorrow, I'll take that 30 minutes and do some work on my elliptical.
4) Don't starve yourself. If you're eating 2000 a day, cut back to 1800. Then 1750 until you get to the suggested calories a day (which is normally 1500).
5) Start a food journal. Write down what you ate at what time and why you ate it. For today I had a handful of potato chips while watching t.v. I realized that I had seen a commercial for potato chips and I just desired them. I wasn't hungry, I just wanted them. When you realize what triggers your food cravings, you can attempt to avoid them by eating similiar foods. Like I bet I could have substitued those Potato chips for a rice cake with a little Peanut Butter and I would have had the crunchy and salty (yet healthier) that my body wanted.
6) Find a weightloss buddy. Someone you can go on your "plan" with. Someone to talk about the hard times or the good times. Someone to go on walks/jogs/excercising with. Be each others supporters.
7) The way to keep off the most weight is to lose 1 to 2 pounds a week. Anything more than that and you'll probably gain it back. Weightloss is a slow journey.

I hope I've helped. Good luck on your journey!

Edit:

To the person who suggested Alli. It is for very heavy people that are looking to lose from 50lbs plus. The side effects of Alli are unpleasant if you eat over a certain amount of grams of fat per serving. From oily discharge from the anus, to uncontrolable bowel movements. It's important to stay on a low fat diet when on Alli. No diet pill works alone; you still have to eat right and excercise. It's merely an aide to help you get over that last hurdle. And always, before taking any medication (even OTC) check with a Dr before use. If after reading the side effects and talking to your Dr you decide Alli is right for you, its then you should take it. Alli is one of the better diet aides on the market and is the only FDA approved diet aide OTC.
