How to put on weight?!

Question:

How to put on weight?

Hello guys. I am 17 Years old 5'11'' and 120 Pounds. I have a very small frame and am extremely skinny. The problem is that I have an extremely fast metabolism and how matter ow much fat I eat I cannot put on a pound. At one point I was having a protein shake every day as well as huge amounts of extremely fatty foods (Doghnuts, Cakes) yet I still remain the same weight. Is there anything else I can do to help put on weight? My goal is around 150.

Answers:

To build healthy weight, you need to start lifting weights, as I'm sure you already know. But you need to be slowly but constantly lifting heavier and heavier weights. The key to building muscle mass is to lift a certain amount of reps with a certain weight, and then lift the same amount of reps with a heavier weight, and so on until you can't go on.

(i.e. press 80 lbs. x 10 reps. FOLLOWED BY 90 lbs. x 10 reps and so on and so forth.) I know from experience that this is a easy and reliable way to put on at least 10-20 pounds in about 3-6 months. (This is, of course if you stay on a repetitive, yet constantly building schedule.)

Besides that, (which you probably already knew) The only thing that I could advise you on is to not do to many (or any) activities which cause to lose weight (running, biking etc.) at least not in excess for the first few months as your body adapts to the changes.

And I would not advise you to eat a lot of junk food and stuff like that (By that, I mean purposefully eating more than is healthy to put on the pounds).
Most of all drink water! Although some people are gonna tell me that I don't know what I'm talking about, the fact is, that drinking water is the best thing to help build muscle.

And remember, its important to work out your entire body during a workout, rather than isolating a specific area. I promise you will see better results by working your chest, arms, shoulder, and legs all in one workout.

If you haven't died of boredom yet, then I hope this helps you!
