Ok, i'm almost exactly the same as you except that i'm 17 as of last month and hispanic!.!.!.

well you should try to eat more fiber with your meals!.!.!. try really hard not to eat fast food if thats a problem for you!.!.!.
drink green tea as it is true it does speed up your metabolism!.
drink alot of water (devide your weight by 2 and that will tell you how many oz of water you should drink a day, ie, if you weight 181, devide that by 2 and it gives you 90!.5, so that means you would have to drink 90!.5 ounces of water per day)
do snack (preferebly fruit) for it will keep your metabolism running all day(thats good)
Try to eat more vegetables than meat and fats
Try to maintain phisically active through out the day!.
excise for about 30 minutes a day, everyday, it doesnt mean you have to run all 30 of those minutes, you can do sit ups and push ups or jump rope!.
Sleep between 7 and 9 hours every night (studies show that if you sleep too little or too much, you are at risk of having weight management issues)
your calorie needs depend on how active you are, so i would say try to stay between 1300 and 2100 since you are still growing and need enough nutrients to keep growing

Here's some other tips i got from a presentation i did:
1!.Keep tempting foods out of sight!. Stay out of the sweets and chips
2!.Excersise!. If you do so, it empties out fat cells, builds muscles, makes you feel better AND speeds up your metabolic rate temporarily
3!. Be realistic- say you weight 300 pounds, don
