Will my being on the birth control pill inhibit my ability to lose 15 pounds?!

Question:

Will my being on the birth control pill inhibit my ability to lose 15 pounds?

I've heard from random sources that the birth control can prevent women from losing weight, and may actually contribute to weight GAIN. Is this true? It is my goal to lose 15 pounds, and for medical reasons, I need to be on the pill. Will being on the pill (Alesse, if it matters) ABSOLUTELY prohibit weight loss? Are there any ways around this?

Lol, I am no "pig". I am, in reality, 5"8 135lbs and need to lose the weight for a job. But thank you for the ignorance, anyhow.

Answers:

The number one side effect to birth control is weight gain, but it doesn't apply to everyone. And I don't think it would prohibit you from losing weight, as long as you are doing all the right things.
