Is it bad to lock ur elbow when bench pressing?!

Question:

Is it bad to lock ur elbow when bench pressing?

Answers:

No, it's not bad, as long as you're in control of the weight you'll be fine. Many powerlifters lock their elbows when benching. If you start experiencing elbow pain you may have a predisposed condition that elbow wraps can help with. Persistent pain of any kind should be examined by a doctor.

What you should be more concerned about is the rotator cuff, or shoulder joint. This is definitely the weakest point involved in a bench press and is most prone to injury. To avoid injury you should make sure you're well warmed up before going heavy, and do rotator cuff exercises like using a cable machine or training bands before the lift.
