Can you overuse a treadmill?!

Question: Can you overuse a treadmill!?
I recently broke out my folks' old treadmill and hopped on it!. I will admit that I am a big guy, and I'm wanting to get in shape!. I just spent about an hour on that thing mixing up between jogging and walking!. I instantly liked it and will continue to do it as much as possible!. But there in lies my question!. Can you overuse a treadmill!? Such as spend an hour on it, take a couple or more hours break, then get back on it!? Keep in mind I haven't really done much in the way of exercising for a bit of a while!. Can I cause myself more harm than good!? Also, does anyone have suggestions for workouts that you can do when you are not in possession of any weights!? I know I'm asking a few questions instead of one, but I really want to get into shape!. I was over 300lbs althrough high school, dropped down to 180 to try to join the army!. Because of a medical condition I was denied, and since ballooned back up to 250!. I'm finally determined to get this weight off and be healthy!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well taking the first step is always the hardest and congratulations on that!. Now that you dusted off the treadmill and got some use out of it!. The thing you need to remember everything in moderation!. If you do one hour a day that is good enough!. since you are looking for a workout with out any weights you may want to try push ups sit ups, jumping jacks, leg lefts!. Yeah but it takes a really long time, yhe strap wears out and it just has to be replaced!. That happened to my uncles tredmill awhile backWww@Answer-Health@Com

You just have to listen to your body!. A few hours a day of mixed jogging/walking on the treadmill should be fine, as long as it isn't continuous of course!. But as I said, make sure you listen to your body!. It will tell you when it's just had enough and needs a break for some food/water or just rest!. While you're exercising make sure you get PLENTY of water!! And if you're going to be working out for 45 minutes or more make sure to get a snack in beforehand!. There are plenty of workouts that can be done without weights!. Try some kickboxing exercises, push ups, squats, lunges, sit ups, crunches, and there are a variety of other exercises that you can do with a bit of research on the net!.
Good luck losing the weight!Www@Answer-Health@Com

The golden rule for exercise is 30 minutes!.

You will get more out of a difficult half hour of jogging than you will from an hour of walking!. When you're exercising, you want to be just out of your comfort zone - you should work hard enough that it strains you, but not so hard that your overwork yourself!.

If you can only jog 15 or 20 minutes now, keep working on it until you can jog for 30 minutes!. Once you can jog for 30 minutes, increase the speed of your treadmill a bit more, make the slope a little bit higher!. Keep raising the level you have to work at, not the amount of time you spend exercising!.

Too much exercise can be unhealthy, depending on what kind of exercise it is!. If you do weight training, you should not exercise the same muscles more than once every four days!. Your muscle tissue needs time to repair itself before you begin exercising it again!.

As for cardio, there is no problem in doing it every day!. Twice a day is still an acceptable level!. You will not need to exercise more than that in a day, so there is not much to worry about there!. Just don't over-exert yourself - if you feel dizzy or faint, stop right away!. Also if breathing becomes difficult, stop what you're doing!. It's possible to work yourself into a serious health problem like a heart attack if you're too over-zealous, so pace yourself!.

If you have the money, I highly recommend joining a gym!. It is an excellent environment for losing weight if you're not too uncomfortable with your body!. They have different cardio equipment, machines for every muscle you'd ever want to exercise, and usually courses and groups you can join (like yoga or kickboxing) to further improve yourself!. It'll keep you motivated; believe it or not, going to the gym can be a pretty enjoyable experience, and you'll feel great about yourself when you go!. Only get a membership if you think you can keep up with the commitment!. There's nothing worse than buying a year-long membership only to lose inspiration a few months in!.

If you can't go to a gym, at least buy a set of weights!. You can find a decent set for around $40, and they're very helpful!. Even if you give up on losing weight for now, they'll still be there when you're ready for it!. But if you're just looking to lose weight anyway, exercise (besides cardio) is not really necessary!. You can lose weight through diet alone, it just takes longer!.
