I too, have the same exact problem!. Do not listen to the BMI scale!. Personally, I am very muscular!. I run, play soccer and tennis, lift weights, and do crunches!. I am only 14, and I am not very tall!. However, I weigh 147 pounds!. This, I know sounds crazy, because normally for my age and height, at this weight I would most certainly be obese or at least very overweight!. However, this is not case!. I do not look fat at all!. Most people are utterly surprised when I tell them my actual weight (I look more like 105-110 pounds!.) So, last year I went for a checkup with the doctor!. She said that even though normally I would be very overweight, I was at the perfect weight for me personally, and that I was in great shape!. So, my advice to you is, go to your doctor and ask her this same question!. I hope this helps, and good luck! :]Www@Answer-Health@Com

Just like someone else said, muscle weighs more than fat, and you are pretty tall!. Also, everyone's different!.!.!.the BMI scale is a guideline but it's not necessarily true for everyone!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

U PROBABLY HAVE A LARGE FRAME AND LOTS OF MUSCLE!.!.!.DID U KNOW FOOTBALL PLAYERS ARE CONSIDERED OBESE!?! ITS TRUE! BUT THEY ARE LARGE AND MUSCULAR AND HAVE THICKER BONES!Www@Answer-Health@Com

You may not think you are obese, but you could be!. Don't rely just on numbers!. Go to the doctor!. Only they can really tell you if you are obese!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You may have a very muscular frame!. Muscle weighs more than fat!. Still, you could probably drop a little bit of weight!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Screw the BMI and scales!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

muscle weighs more than fat, so if your toned and your not very skinny, that is probably why your bmi says your overweightWww@Answer-Health@Com

The BMI is one of the WORST measures of physical health and obesity ever created! It does not account for muscle mass, body fat percentages, bone density, or anything else!. It is a crappy system based on averages!.

The best example I could ever give (I REALLY wish I had pictures) was when I was around 19 years old!. I was fresh out of the Marine Corps!. I weighed 225 pounds at 5'10" tall!. I had a co-worker at my job who weighed 225 pounds and was also 5'10" tall!. We were the same age!. He was very obese, and I was in amazing shape!. According to the BMI, we identical and overweight!. However, if you saw us side by side (at the time) you would never in a million years have considered me obese!.

If you really want to view your fitness level and body shape accurately, get a set of body fat calipers and measure yourself the way the manual describes and find out your body fat percentage!. This will be a far better indicator as to whether or not you need to lose weight!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

"big bones" and having muscles are not an excuase for being heavier! I'm tiredof hearing that!. Muscle weighs more than fat, but not by much!

I've been skinny and fit and abnormally strong all my life and looked fantastic

you're just overweight!.!.!.no biggie!.!.!.just work harder at losing itWww@Answer-Health@Com

BMI doesn't take into account frame size and muscle mass!. In fact the taller or shorter you are, the less accurate it is because BMI uses the square of your height and although people don't scale up proportionately with height, it should probably somewhere between the square and cube of your height!. Also studies show that men on average are two BMI points above women!.

Best thing is to have a body fat test to check your % of body fat!. Also you can measure your waist!. A man your height should have a waist no more than 40 inches!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hi don't stress out about it!. Most doctors use BMI as a rough estimate!. It does not account for body structure, bone density, anything!. I would use a waist to hip ratio along with BMI to see if you really may have a problem!. That will be the tell all!. Take your measurements as described on http://www!.healthcalculators!.org/calcula!.!.!.
put your hip and waist measurements in and see what happens!. If you don't have measurement tape right now, try putting your info in this advanced BMI calculator and see what happens!. http://www!.halls!.md/body-mass-index/av!.h!.!.!.

This will let you compare your BMI with others your height and age!.

Good Luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com
