Is Cardio a Requirement in Losing Weight?!

Question:

Is Cardio a Requirement in Losing Weight?

I've been wondering, is cardio really as important as weight and strength training? If you have more muscle, you burn more calories, so why waste all of your time on cardio? I understand you need some cardio, but is an hour a day really necessary?

Answers:

Losing weight begins and ends with a simple rule: putting out more than you take in. Running track would seem to make someone lose weight? Try telling that to those huge guys who throw the shot put and discuss. They run miles a week and still tip the scales.

Cardio helps when you are burning off more than you take in. If you practice portion control with a drastic cut in calories(although this is the hardest way), you can lose weight without exercise. The exercise allows you to tip the scales in your favor while keeping what you have left toned and tight.

One hour is always good if you are doing low intensity. I am a gym rat and I see people who jog or bicycle hard for twenty minutes. The harder you work, the shorter you can have your sessions.

Walking before a meal (in order to go and get it from a distance) and a stroll afterwards can help keep things in balance. Stairs instead of the elevator and keeping a pedometer (10,000 steps a day) can be a gymless way to attack the weight.
