How to help a fat person loose weight?!

Question:

How to help a fat person loose weight?

my sister was really skinny last year, but when she went to college she started eating alot and not doing anything. and she keeps gaining weight, everytime i see her she looks like she put on 20 pounds. its really sad to see her go through this transformation and if i dont convince her to do something about it, she will gain so much weight that she cant loose it.

she has some serious motivation problems and is really lazy and doesnt do anything except sleep and eat and lay around and work. i want to convince her to start working out but its really hard to do that. cause my mom tried too, she told her she would give her the rights to her car if she joined a swim team and swam everyday, but my sister hasnt gone once, but tells my mom that she does. she works llike 10 hours a day as a waitress and is doesnt have alot of time to work out. i cant think of what to do except tell her ill buy her something if she looses weight. cause shes a serious spend aholic and is in alot of debt. help

I agree with JustAchick. Your sister might have a depression problem. It's really hard to keep motivated when your whole life is changing in college and you have so many things to look out for that you could get overwhelmed. Some people do experience this and it's really REALLY tough.
Please don't ever call her 'fat'. It's hurtful and when it comes from your own family, it hurts twice as much. Don't tell her to lose weight - tell her to be healthier. Sit her down and tell her that you're willing to do anything to help her. She needs to know that someone cares enough to help her in every way, and won't shun her just because of her weight. Tell her that she's smart, that you're proud of her coz she's in college, tell her that she's an awesome and caring sister.
If she doesn't want to swim, leave it out. Swimming can be intimidating for someone who has put on weight. They're constantly being reminded of how they looked like before in their bathing suit and if they don't look as good, it could be a blow to their self-esteem.
Perhaps you could go jogging with her? And while you jog, talk about fun stuff, so she'd be motivated to jog more with you. Or play basketball, or any active game that she enjoys. She needs to be reminded that she can still feel good while taking care of her body.
I wish you all the best, and really, really, really hope that your sister will feel much better soon. I'm glad she has a brother that really wants to help her. =)
Good luck!!!
