Can I lose a stone?!

Question:

Can I lose a stone?

I have 9 weeks before school starts and i have a lot of time on my hands, I want to lose at least a stone before I go back,
(mainly a little around the middle and on the legs)
(willing to work hard and diet)
(classed as muscular build)
i currently weigh 14 Stone and am 5'9", a rugby player, with a 34" waist.
is my target possible and can you give me any tips on persistance?

Answers:

1 stone = 14 lbs

Well, you weigh about 144 lbs... and you're 5 feet and 9 inches? Is that correct?

If you're 5'9", 14 stone should be pretty good. My boyfriend is a few inches shorter than you, and he weighs about that much. He's pretty muscular, and that can make you weigh more (not necessarily a bad thing).

Anyway, I find running to be one of the best forms of exercise. Many athletes run track in the off-season because it helps them stay in shape. Try running a mile or kilometer everyday, and build on from that. Running makes you more slender, unlike weight lifting.

Swimming is also know to be very good exercise. If you want to lose fat around your waist and legs, I think the traditional running, squats, and sit-ups should do it. You're young and male -- basically anything you do will work.

P.S. You're from the British Isles, right?

Have a nice day.
