Do you think that...?!

Question: Do you think that!.!.!.!?
As a society we pay too much attention on the negative side affects of being too thin!? Should we not create more prevention/awareness for obese people!?
Do you feel that we don't talk about obese people because we are embarrased!? Or don't want to offend!?
Well it's a health issue, is it not!?!?

I watched the Tyra Banks show the other day where 600 lbs!. women were on it!. Someone in the audience bashed one of the heavier ladies weight because it was unhealthy!.!.!. The large lady then said, "I'm five times the woman, I deserve five times the respect!" I was discusted! People actually clapped for her! DOES SHE NOT REALIZE IT IS A HUUUUUUUUUUGE HEALTH CONCERN TO BE 600 LBS!?! Is America that STUPID!?! If an anorexic lady who was say, 70 lbs!. was on the show and talked about how proud she was to be underweight, would the audience still clap!?

I don't mean to offend anyone! I will not judge anyone on their answer!. Please just comment on your opinion!. Thank you for taking the time to read this!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Actually, being a person who want from being an obese person, to being an anorexic person, I don't think enough stress is put on either topics!. I don't blame anybody but myself for those problems, but it would have been nice if a parent or family friend picked up on the symptoms of Anorexia Nervosa!. It also would have been nice if instead of first shoving my obesity under the rug, my parents confronted me about it and made moves to a healthier lifestyle, instead of letting the taunting from other kids make me go to another whole extreme!.
I think that instead of just focusing and speculating on the weight of others, the media (TV shows, radio stations, magazines, et cetera) should focus on how to lead a healthy lifestyle, for all types of people!. This means breaking down the mumbo-jumbo that goes on food labels for the public, making foods healthier, and focusing on the healthy stars and idols!. This would also include letting symptoms of anorexia, compulsive-over-eating, and other disorders and diseases that are weight-related, be something that we constantly see!. My parents didn't recognize the warning signs in me, and I hate to think there are others who suffer the same fate!. People think that it's better to be underweight, rather than overweight, but both are just as bad!. But still all the media focuses on, is contradicting itself: the irony is that you can pick up a magazine and find that three of the biggest stories on the cover are about stars losing weight and becoming healthy, stars losing TOO much weight, and stars gaining weight!. You can congratulate so-and-so for losing weight when they really didn't need to, but then make fun of a star that gained a little weight and now looks like the average woman (weight-wise at least)!?
We need to really encourage healthy living, instead of discouraging both being fat and being too thin!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Unfortunately, the negative side effects of being too thin are JUST as important as negative images of being obese!.

We don't talk about obese people because we are embarassed!. It's important and honestly just as much in the news as is extreme thinness!.

However, those who influence us most (Hollywood, magazines, friends) are all wanting a girl's image to be THIN!. Girls as young as 5 are already refusing to wear winter coats because they'll look fat!.

I don't think people should be encouraged to be obese, but it's important to support a healthy lifestyle for ANYONE!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

People clapped because they for one on a show and are payed to!. For two the message is be happy no matter how big you are accept and love yourself!. But we all know and so do the people clapping that it is very unhealthy and shows no respect for yourself and no self control!. Being obese is weak minded!. imagine how unhappy you would be at 600lbs!. Don't make decisions on society based on what you watch it is all scripted I do audience work here in hollywood!. Trust me television is a lie!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

What's stupid is that the USA,supposedly the "richest" nation on earth has a population about 31%, or about 59 million people, who are obese, and almost 65% are overweight!.

So most Americans will die from 2 preventable diseases: heart disease and diabetes!. They literally EAT themselves to death!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i agree why should fat people can all the attention of being great when its a bad thing to be like that coz its just encouraging more people to be like coz there saying its gd wen it just leads to a nasty deaf with a crane lifting ur coffin into ur grave!!!
sorry for the exageration!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't know what society you are living in, but I don't think thin people get as much criticism as fat people!. The only time we talk about being too thin is when someone is anorexic or bulimic, which is just as dangerous as obesity!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i agree!.!.!.there is no excuse for being obese!.!.!.it is disgusting!.!.!.
you can be overweight because of your genes but OBESE!?! the Tyra Banks Show is for women with problems to get together and tell each other they are fine "just they way they are"!.!.!.!.fyi i am an americanWww@Answer-Health@Com

america is considered the FATEST country in the world!. i see fat people watching anorexia commericials and saying ,"hell thats why i eat a lot so i dont look like that thin b**ch!." so america should put more concerns for overweight and ovese peopleWww@Answer-Health@Com

its all about extreams, either extreamly too skinny, or extreamly too fat, I think we need to promote a balance between the two! They both have their health risks and all!. God BlessWww@Answer-Health@Com

actually we in america laugh at fat people go to any high school and find the ratio of obese toskinny and thin people
and fat people are nastyWww@Answer-Health@Com

i didn't actually see that, but some obese people aren't obese because they eat!.!.
my sister for example is very overweight and it's because she has thyroid problems!.!. she can't help being obese!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

just concentrate on yourself and forget that you ever watched such a show!.!.!.everyone of us are rasied with different mentalities and lifestyle!.!.!.its not so simple to reform mankind in a minute!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

why would people clap for a fat lady cause she pround of being fat umm!.!.!. ya thats really weird why would someone do that!?!?!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

i agree!.!.!.people are always offended when you bring up health problems of being obese!.!.!.but thats society, its never gonna changeWww@Answer-Health@Com

huh!?!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

On the contrary, I don't think we pay enough attention to it! Everyone knows how bad it is to be obese but so many people are living by a 'the thinner the better' mentality and dieting their way down to unhealthy sizes without realising it!.
Even on this forum, when someone asks 'am I fat' and says they're 90lbs, people say "No, that's underweight, you're lucky!" as if being unhealthy is good!. So rarely will people actually say how dangerous it is!.
There's a lot of stigma attatched to being overweight so people understand the side effects but because we're all bombarded with messages that we should lose weight, I don't think enough people realise the dangers of being too thin!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I know why do we focus on just the anorexic, There are more people obese anorexic!. I am not saying this to offend anybody, but anorexia is a disorder (and we don't make fun of people with autism) And most obese people its there fault, because they ate to much, and did not exercise!. I know some people can not help it, i know that cause my friends mom had a disorder where it made her gain weight, but most obese people don't have this problem, and people should not clap for her, cause she should not be proud of herself, and weighing 600 pounds put you at risk of a lot of things!. I weigh 120 pounds at 5'8''!. And i work for it, i eat a lot yes, but i exercise to!.I look perfectly healthy!. I even have curves!. I am at a perfect weight, you notice the people in the middle don't get applauded for anything!. And most of the obese people in my school say they hate skinny people, but they made them self's that way!. Sorry this topic seems to get me upset, I totally agree with you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I understand what you're saying and I almost agree!. The issue is fat acceptance!. No, they wouldn't clap for an anorexic person!. However the anorexic person does not get as much hatred and judgment placed upon her, often times sadly people admire very very thin people!.

Yes, both extremes are unhealthy and are often times the result of abnormal responses to stress and illness (mental and/or physical)!. Some extremely heavy people are tired of being looked down upon just because of their weight!. It doesn't define them, even tho it is a symptom of a bigger issue!. People just need to stop judging people based on their size (small or big) and realize if it isn't their body it isn't really their problem!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Okay, I think that the reason America would clap for someone obese is because they are pretty much ignorant!. And, since personal rights and stuff comes in, they think that the person deserves respect!. Even though she is just as sick as the anorexic women!. Obese people have just become such a normal thing for people to see, so no one really thinks about all the health problems and things that go along with it!. They all just try to ignore it, the easy way out!. But really, people need to open their eyes and see just how ill America as a whole really is!. Like, if you go to Europe of South America or any other continent or country no one is overweight!. And, if an obese lady went to a foreign country people would stare and whisper, because it isn't common for people that size in their country!. But, all the fast food and the cars and everything has made people in America lazy and fat!.
I think the only reason they clapped was not for he weight, but for her free will in speaking out about what she believed in!. I don't think they even clapped for her message, they just clapped because they felt that she was expressing her opinions!. I also think that maybe they just simply felt sorry for her and how big her problem has become!. They might have just clapped to make her feel better for once in her life!.

One of my friends just came from Poland, and she was a vegetarian there, and she would ride her bike everyday to work and school!. She was about 110 pounds before, but now when she moved to America, all the cars and buses and fast food that she is getting used to has caused her to gain 30 pounds, in one year!!! She was very depressed about how unhealthy she is, so she is moving back to Poland, where she will probably lose all her weight again!. But, to think if someone comes to the U!.S!. for one year and gains 30 pounds, they are okay since they moved back and will lose the weight!. But what about those of us who are here to stay!? How unhealthy will we be!? I am really glad that you asked this question, it will make people rethink what they do and eat!. And, it will open the eyes to some people!.
Thank You,
