The first poster is correct. There's no fixed or widely accepted speed for weight-loss. In fact, many trainers and expects suggest changing the intensity/speed of your workout. You can start slow and gradually work yourself up, or you can change the pace from high, medium and low throughout your workout, in any particular order. The purpose is to keep your body guessing. You never want your body to adjust to your workout routine for too long. Twenty minutes of a daily cardio activity is a good approach towards weight-loss.

As the first poser stated, you want a calorie deficit. You want to burn more calories than you take in, but that doesn't mean starving yourself to achieve your goal. Eat small portioned meals every 3-4 hours --- that way you never feel hungry and you have the energy exert yourself physically when need be,
