I'm 18 and i get cracking sounds as well so your age isn't the issue!.

Is your form correct !? you should have a lordotic posture ( this is back straight with bottom pushed out, sort of like an over exaggerated military posture)!. Also i take it you mean full squats, whereby your legs go parallel with the floor!. Your feet should be shoulder width apart, roughly!. In adition to this, make sure your knees don't push out past your feet, that is too far and could cause the cracking sound!.

My personal trainer told me before that as long as there is no pain with it then its OK!. However it is very off putting, and it gives me shivers when i hear it!.

As for joints, i would recommend glucosamine, i bought some of this but haven't really been using it!.

Also make sure your fully warmed up before you go into your squats!. Shake your legs, walk up and down the stairs a few times, jump rope etc!.

However if the cracking continues and it is making you uncomfortable, i would try half squats (not going down as far) or trying a different exercise that is easier on the knees, e!.g lunges!.

Hope this helps a bit !!Www@Answer-Health@Com

if there isnt any pain then you should be alright!. might want to have that checked by a doctor before you continue!. i have a crackling sound in my knee too and as long as it doesnt hurt my doctor said it was fine!. but better to be safe than sorry!. your doctor can also make sure that everything else is alright and ok you to continue on an exercise program!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

stop as soon as it hurts, drink lots of water it will lube the joints and soon they will stop cracking also when doing squats arms should e up in the air, it will give you a good lumbar curve and prevent injures, good luck and don't push your self to hard until you get used to itWww@Answer-Health@Com
