What should I do to lose weight?

I am 14 years old 190 pounds and 5' 6. I would like to lose 50 pounds by mid November. What should I do to lose the weight? How many calories should I consume, and what exercises should I do, and how often?


Answers:

1200 calories per day, lots of water, find some aerobic classes or videos you like (I like Tae Bo because it combines aerobic with building muscle), and begin weight or resistance training (I like the book, "Perfectly Fit" by Selene Yaeger). Try to do some form of exercise every day, even if it's just walking. Work you way up to exercising about an hour every day.

November is a little aggressive, but I bet you could be there by Dec or Jan. (Your young age will help you lose faster than my stubborn old body did, but only if you follow the program.) I am 5'6" also and weighed about 194. I lost 50 pounds in about 5 months and have kept it off now for over 6 years.

You'll still be looking terrific in November even if you're not quite at your goal! Good luck to you!
