Calories burned on treadmill?!
Question: Calories burned on treadmill!?
Hi!. I have a question about the calorie counter on my treadmill!. I worked out for 40 mins and did 2 miles on a 10% incline and my treadmill estimated the calories burned at about 65 calories but when I checked an online calculator it estimated it at about 400 calories!. This is a big difference!. Which would be closer to the actual amount of calories burned and is there a way to calculate the amount of calories burned besides an online calculator or the one attatched to the treadmill to get a more accurate number!?Www@Answer-Health@Com
Answers:
your machine sounds like it may be broke!. you burn about 50 to 60 calories doing half a mile at 2!.0 to 2!.5 mph!. which takes about 15 minutes!. so you are definetly burning more than 65 calories!. at least online you can add your height, weight, and what you did to get a pretty accurate number!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Depending on your weight and body mass, 200 calories is probably more accurate!. There are several charts on the web, but they are all generalized!. Only a facility with the right equipment can say for sure!.
Take into account your weight!. A heavier person would burn more calories in forty minutes at 10% than a lighter one!. The greater the mass the more energy it takes to move it!.
I have found that treadmill calorie meters are good as a comparitive measure only!. In other words, if it says you burned fifty calories with one work-out and 100 with another, you know the second work-out would be better for fat burning!.
Good luck,

neither are accurate i think the treadmill will measure off average heart rate, unless you have one with the measuring devicesWww@Answer-Health@Com
You probably burned closer to the 400 depending on how fast you were going!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
